Get More Results From Your Deer Scent

Placing deer scent directly onto the scrape will attract deer.

The down side is that when you place the scent on the ground that the buck might walk over and past the scrape.

This could limit the number of bucks visiting the deer scrape.

I hang a scent wick, saturated with deer scent, above the scrape.

Wind currents can carry deer scent through your deer hunting area and could attract more deer to that scrape. A saturated deer scent wick in the air could last longer than a few drops of deer scent on the ground.

Another plus to using a scent wick is you will not have keep reapplying deer scent to the deer scrape every day. Not having to apply scent everyday keeps human odors from contaminating the deer scrape you are hunting over.

Don’t be discouraged if the deer scrape is not reopened the day after you apply deer scent. A rutting buck may be working a very large area that is filled with scrapes.

The buck may take a couple days to come back to the deer scrape you doctored up.

If after two days, the deer scrape has not been re-opened by a buck, chances are the deer scrape is not active any longer. You may want to move your deer hunting tree stand location.

Good Luck and Great Hunting!
